Regional Victoria Rail Infrastructure Systems Engineering

Capital Projects Advisory (now TSA) provided system engineering services and requirements management to assist V/Line deliver key network improvements as part of the Regional Rail Revival (RRR) program.  The network improvements include upgrades to reduce network faults and allow ontime running and increased capacity to allow more services to run and relieve overcrowding, as well as station and train modernisation and accessibility improvements for passengers.

For each V/Line rail corridor the team produced documents to define V/Line’s operational requirements during the project planning and development phases. When implemented, the system engineering process allowed each project requirement to be tracked and verified throughout the project development, delivery, and construction phases.

Our work in systems engineering allowed V/Line to optimise program benefits and successfully integrate them with the existing network, and provided confidence that project objectives will be met. The team also helped V/Line provide a base upon which to build a permanent systems engineering team given the lack of capabilities in this space in the past.
