Canberra Avenue Bus Transit Way
Client: Transport Canberra and City Services
Project value: $7.6 million

The Canberra Avenue bus transit way was part of the ACT Government’s Strategic Public Transport Network Plan and was designed to significantly improve bus commuter travel times. TSA had the flexibility and knowledge to undertake several roles throughout the project, including team leader, project manager, contract administrator and superintendent. Providing a cohesive and consultative approach to the whole project.

A key challenge during the design phase was to achieve the required performance outcome for the improved bus service on the route, given a relatively tight budget and consequent limitations on design and construction options. The project required several value management exercises and design iterations to achieve the optimum solution. The construction of a dedicated bus lane on Canberra Avenue and incorporated an overall goal of providing an engineering solution which achieved an enhanced urban design outcome for the Canberra Avenue road corridor.
