The Port Wakefield to Port Augusta Alliance
CPB Contractors (for the Department for Infrastructure and Transport)

Engaged by CPB Contractors, TSA is performing the role of Independent Construction Verifier on the Port Wakefield to Port Augusta Alliance (PW2PA), which is delivering projects on behalf of the Department for Infrastructure and Transport. The PW2PA comprises several distinct projects to upgrade road infrastructure in regional South Australia. The PW2PA’s primary goal is to enhance the National Highway, improving traffic flow and reducing congestion for all road users, especially during peak travel periods and public holidays. A joint initiative of the Australian and South Australian Governments, the PW2PA projects will also elevate safety levels and boost freight productivity along the Strategic National Land Transport Network.

Since 2020, TSA has been part of the project team delivering key PW2PA projects, including the Port Wakefield Overpass and Highway Duplication Project and the Joy Baluch AM Bridge Duplication. The Port Wakefield Highway typically accommodates 8,800 vehicles daily, which can surge to around 16,000 during peak holiday seasons. The $124 million Port Wakefield Overpass and Highway Duplication Project will deliver more highway lanes, a realigned dual carriageway, realigned intersections, new bridges across the Wakefield River, and a new two-lane overpass. The Joy Baluch AM Bridge Duplication is a $200 million project adding a second two-lane bridge immediately north of the original bridge. Both bridges will have two-way shared pedestrian/cycling paths separated from the road traffic.

As Independent Construction Verifier, TSA is ensuring that all PW2PA activities comply with the construction requirements specified in the contract and the Department for Infrastructure and Transport’s technical requirements.
