Swan River Crossing Alliance

Replacing an 83 year old bridge

Improving transport connections

Increased open spaces

A new crossing over the Swan River will be constructed for use by cyclists, pedestrians and vehicles, and will replace the existing Fremantle Traffic Bridge, which has reached the end of its service life. A second dedicated passenger rail bridge will also be constructed, while parts of Canning Highway will be realigned.

TSA are part of a team undertaking independent review of constructability, design, procurement and construction schedule and cost estimate for new road bridge to replace existing Fremantle Traffic Bridge and new rail bridge for passenger trains for Perth- Fremantle line. The cost estimate review includes review of Alliance estimate along with preparing an independent estimate for all works.

The project includes construction of new road and rail bridges (incrementally launched), major service relocations, realignment of Perth-Fremantle passenger line and modification of road network. Due to the confined work site significant enabling works are required including construction of temporary works bridge to allow construction of the two new bridges.
