Located on the old BNZ House site at 2 Cathedral Square, the building’s large public atrium will link Cathedral Square with Hereford Street, helping to create an atmospheric, dynamic space.
Expected to be completed in 2019, the 4-storey building will combine commercial, retail and hospitality tenancies, including an exciting roof top hospitality space all set over a basement car park. The structural design for the building will include base isolation, delivering a high level of seismic resilience in the event of earthquakes.
The project team consists of all local businesses with Cequent Projects as project managers, Sheppard and Rout as leading architect, Holmes Consulting delivering the structural design, TM Consultants all services, WT Partnership cost management and AES undertaking acoustic engineering.
Lincoln Blair, Director for Cequent Projects and representative for Nexus Point Ltd says, ‘We have a fantastic team delivering this exciting project, and we’re very pleased to have attracted Spark NZ as the anchor tenant. This will be one of the more visually appealing, functional and resilient buildings in Christchurch, and we’re very much looking forward to welcoming Spark and other tenants when the doors open.
