Prison Bed Capacity Program PMO Review
Client: Corrective Services NSW

500 additional staff
7,000 new beds
$3.6 billion program

Following NSW Government forecasts of an increase in the prison population by 2020, the state government announced the Prison Bed Capacity Program, to expand NSW prison capacity. This AUD$3.8b program saw new facilities and conversions within existing correctional centres.

A Program Management Office (PMO) was established within Corrective Services NSW, to support the planning and delivery of the program. TSA Advisory was engaged to undertake a review of the PMO to identify the necessary delivery support capabilities required to achieve program success. A detailed current state analysis was undertaken of PMO functions, services and roles, with identified opportunities for improvement.

The resultant blueprint provided a picture of the necessary future state capabilities which included PMO functions, services, roles and products. In addition, it provided a roadmap to achieve the target capability step change.
