New Zealand International Convention Centre
Client: SKYCITY
Project value: NZ$402 million

The New Zealand International Conference Centre (NZICC) is a complex project in urban design and transport integration, developed under an agreement between SkyCity and the New Zealand Government. TSA was appointed interim project director, responsible for the brief finalisation, delivery strategy development, Crown and Council stakeholder and leading relationship management. We managed the team through the initiation phase and concept design before handing over the SkyCity’s directly employed internal project director.

The design was specifically tailored to enable operational flexibility and adaptability. To keep Safety in Design as a focus and priority, the project was designed using Building Information Modeling (BIM). Using this innovative technology allowed careful market interactions during design to ensure buildability, cost-effective solutions while mitigating risk.

TSA also advised on the procurement strategy formulation and engaging the consultant team. The strategy agreed to was international in scope and scale and resulted in the appointment of a preferred contractor for early contractor involvement.

When complete the NZICC will be an adaptive conference and event venue, with state-of-the-art plenary facilities, large exhibition spaces, meeting and break out spaces across a 65,000m2 site, with a 300-bed hotel with links to the city and neighbouring retail and entertainment experiences.
