Ipswich Hospital Redevelopment Stage 1A
Client: Building Queensland

280,000 patients served
50 new mental health beds
1 new MRI suite

TSA Advisory was appointed by Building Queensland to lead the planning and business case development phases for stage 1A of the redevelopment of Ipswich Hospital. We worked closely with the project owner, West Moreton Health, and central Queensland Government agencies to provide a Detailed Business Case (DBC) for endorsement by the Building Queensland Board.

The project scope includes the development of:

  • A new mental health facility with 50 beds for adult acute and older persons.
  • A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) suite.

The DBC also considered:

  • The purchase and refurbishment of Ipswich City Council facilities to provide new facilities for community health and administration functions.
  • Upgrades to the existing car parks on the Ipswich City Council site and development of additional at-grade car parking.

TSA Advisory led an intensive stakeholder engagement process with QLD Department of Health senior officials, as well as Premier and Cabinet and Treasury. This developed a workable solution for Building Queensland and West Moreton Health to provide new facilities and minimise impact on existing operation. The solution considered the broader health services masterplan for the West Moreton region.

The business case was endorsed in mid-2019 and the project is now in delivery.
