Australian War Memorial Redevelopment

Australian War Memorial Redevelopment

Throughout 2018, TSA Canberra’s Tim Wise, as the Australian War Memorial’s Project Director, led a team of consultants to develop a detailed business case and master plan, which plans for the future 50 years at the Australian War Memorial. Late last year, the Redevelopment Project was awarded funding approval.

Engaged on an initial three year period our team of Tim Wise, Sherron Fielden, Cameron Granger and Jarrad Sharp will be working on the $498 million, ten-year project. The Redevelopment Project is a once in a multi-generational opportunity to increase the capacity of this great Australian institution to tell more stories of Australians in conflict and operations, with a specific focus on the 70,000 personnel who have served in recent years such as  East Timor, Iraq and Afghanistan. The Redevelopment Project will significantly improve visitor experience, increasing the visitor and gallery space by 83% (10,000m2).

The Redevelopment Project is being managed as a program of works which include a new temporary exhibition space, improved visitor orientation, areas for respite and reflection, a theatre and functions space, electronic displays, additional gallery spaces and a light-filled atrium – take a look at the video below for an insight into the project.

Our team is very excited to be working on such a significant project. Projects like these offer the opportunity for us to collaborate, learn and grow, and contribute to something of national significance. Our team is looking forward to achieving positive outcomes and leading the project to success.
