Providing healthy and affordable homes with Kāinga Ora, NZ

Kāinga Ora is a NZ Government organisation delivering housing and urban development projects throughout New Zealand. These brownfields neighbourhood developments are part of the Auckland Housing Programme (AHP) which aims to deliver around 25,000 new, high-quality, healthy homes in the next 10-15 years, including state housing, more homes for first home buyers, and a greater supply of homes to the market.

TSA has a long-standing relationship with Kāinga Ora through their predecessor organisations HLC and Housing New Zealand, and Tāmaki Regeneration Company who are partnering with them to deliver homes to Kiwis in Auckland Eastern Suburbs. We are currently providing project management and advisory services to Kāinga Ora in Auckland and Tauranga across the continuum of project lifecycle activities including delivery of master planning and development business cases, demolition and land remediation, infrastructure planning and delivery, and construction and refit of apartments and houses.

In Auckland, TSA is undertaking the development planning for up to 40 individual sites in the Mt Roskill precinct building off previous work with HLC in nearby Ōwairaka.

TSA is also involved in the Tāmaki Precinct carrying out business case preparation for a new master-planned neighbourhood Epping Evandale, and are preparing for construction to commence on the Hinaki neighbourhood this month. The Hinaki neighbourhood will see over 300 dwellings delivered over the next two years.

In Tauranga, we are managing a two-year programme of works for the upgrade and renovation of 180 social housing homes across the Bay of Plenty region.

As part of working with Kāinga Ora we have the opportunity to be involved in innovative solutions and potential new build forms for the sites and neighbourhoods, including Build To Rent, multi-generational homes, co-living spaces, “Living Streets”, and Kai Awhi – community gardens and nurseries.

Working with Kāinga Ora is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for the team at TSA to contribute in making healthy and affordable homes available for New Zealanders.
